Alumni Meeting 2016 of Loyola College of Education was held on Saturday 14th October 2016 at 2.00 p.m. at AruppeAuditorium, Loyola College of Education, Chennai – 600034. About 104 Alumni have attended the meeting. The Alumni meeting commenced with a prayer song and followed by reading from Holy Bible. Dr. KulandaiTherasal, Principal, Loyola College of Education delivered the welcome address. Rev. Fr. Dominic Royce, S.J. Secretary, Loyola College of Education felicitated the alumni. Rev. Fr. Thomas Amirtham, S.J. Director, Alumni Association, Loyola Arts & Science College, Chennai was invited as a Chief Guest. He addressed the alumniand asked them to be united with their alma mater and also encouraged the alumni to come forward to render financial support for the deserving students in LCE. The present first year students entertained the alumni with cultural programmes like mime, dance, and street play. Then Mr. Jose Thomas, Alumni Joint Secretary was asked to moderate the interactive session of “Alumni Sharing”.

Most of the alumni suggested in improvising their contact through social media so that all the students stay connected to share new information and latest developments in teaching arena. Suggestions were invited from alumni to find ways to assist upcoming B Ed students. Father Secretary, LCE, asked all the Alumni to support the future LCE students financially, in whichever possible manner. This suggestion was appreciated by all the Alumni of LCE. This initiative will help lots of aspirants to take up the formal education from LCE, who would otherwise be deprived of this opportunity, due to lack of financial support.

Alumni of LCE cherished lots of their memories while they were undergoing the course. They thanked all the teachers for grooming them as effective teachers and also assisting each one of them to become good professionals.

Then vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Vijayan, President, Alumni Association, Loyola College of Education, which was followed by high tea.

Alumni Meeting 2016 of Loyola College of Education was held on Saturday 9th April 2016 at 10.30a.m at Loyola Institute of Business AdministrationAuditorium, Loyola Campus, Chennai – 600034. About 51 Aumni have attended the meeting. The Alumni meeting began with a prayer song. Mrs. M. Caroline Maria, Asst. Prof. in Education delivered the welcome address. Rev. Fr. Dominic Royce, S.J. Secretary, Loyola College of Education felicitated the alumni. Further, he lauded the stunning academic performance by the students of the yesteryears at the University level by securing many ranks. Dr. A.J.A. RajakumariAmirthaGowri, Principal, Loyola College of Education in her felicitation, emphasized the need for networking among the alumni not only to share professional experiences but also care for alma mater. Rev. Dr. G. Joseph Antonysamy, S.J. Principal, Loyola College was the chief guest of the alumni meeting. In his address, he motivated the alumni to act as ambassadors of Loyola College of Education in their words and deeds by letting their light shine. He also encouraged the alumni to come forward to render financial support for the deserving students in LCE. Dr. Victor Louis Anthuvan, Loyola Institute of Business Administration gave a special address on Alumni Grooming by citing some anecdotes of the great teachers like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Dr.Radha Krishnan and Mother Teresa who have inspired not only the students but also the world community. The first session came to an end with vote of thanks by Mrs. C. BeulaJayarani, Asst. Prof. in Biological Science, Loyola College of Education.

In session two, the Alumni started sharing their views and experiences and the Principal moderated the session.
Some of thehighlights of the sharing by our alumni are presented below.

 Some of them suggested that the college can organize seminars and conferences on Modern Educational Practices and allow them to participate and present papers.
 They also suggested to conduct coaching classes for TET /CTET / NET / TRB examinations and to make use of the alumni who have successfully completed such competitive examinations.

The Alumni President, Dr. Vijayanproposed the following for discussion and to take decision on them:

 To organise regular get-to-gather
 To identify and recognize the alumni who are in the top position
 To organise welcome programme to freshers
 To contribute and render their service at the time of eventuality such as flood, fire, etc.
 To fix a permanent alumni day for every year
 To contribute and strengthen the resources of Alma mater
 To include Alumni activities in the College News Letter or Magazine

After long deliberations, Principal Madam listed out the following decisions taken in the meeting.

 October 2nd of every year may be fixed for Alumni day.
 The responsibility of organizing Alumni Meeting may be left to batch wise on rotation.Accordingly, October 2nd 2016 Almni meeting will be organised by 2013-2014 Batch
 Career mentor, consultancy services, job fair for alumni may be organised shortly.
 Information regarding the conduct of seminars and workshops organized by Loyola College of Education may be passed on to alumni then and there
 Creating social net working like Whats App, face book, mail and SMS to connect alumni.

Then vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Vijayan, President, Alumni Association, Loyola College of Education, followed by lunch in Loyola College of Education. All the participants gave a feedback that they have enjoyed the Alumni meet 2016.

1. Boost the effectiveness of our alumni.
2. Increase the alumni connectivity.
3. Sharing of our alumni with the Alma mater may not be in finance but in resources.
4. Felicitation of achievers – (college toppers).
5. Conducting social welfare activities such as Good Samaritan charity, blood donation, health awareness programme, tree plantation.
6. One day seminar / workshop on “Recent trends in Teaching Methodology”.
7. Conducting election – New Office Bearers.
8. Inviting them for motivational talk to the present students.
9. Scribe for the needy students.
10. Plan to organize Career mentor, consultancy service and job fair.
11. Connectivity can be done for Seminar/ TET/ CTET/ TRB ….competitive exam.
12. Plan to start knowledge building through WhatsApp, face book and SMS.
