Faculty Development Programme

Congrats to Ms.Sridevi R, Assistant Professor of Education (Maths) whosea paper on "TEACHER EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY SET UP FOR THE CHILDREN WITH VISUALLY CHALLENGED" presented at the National Seminar conducted by Sri PadmavatiMahilaVisvaVidyalayam, Tirupati was selected for publication in the International Journal of “Multidisciplinary Education Research”.


Awareness Programme on Organ & Blood Donation

An awarenesssession on Organ Donation was arranged for the student-teachers by RRC & YRC of LCE with the help of Lion’s Club of Sivakasi Crackers City. Rev.Dr.JerryRosario,SJ addressed the student-teachers on the importance of “Thanam” on 28th March. His scintillating speech awakened the slumbering spirit of the student-teachers.


Student Development Programme – Extra Curricular Activities

Two of our II year student-teachers representing LCE participated in the State Level Model Making Competition on Disaster Management organised by Stella Matutina College of Education, Chennaion 24th March and won the second prize. Congrats to them! Earlier YRC of LCE participated in the Variety & Cultural Competition at the State Level organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch. Of 32 colleges that partook in the competition, LCE secured the second place in the overall competitions. Congrats to the staff and the student-teachers!


International Women’s Day Celebration

LCE celebrated the International Women’s Day with the elderly people at Home for the Aged, Chetpet on 18th March. An hour cultural programme was put up by the student-teachers to feast the eyes of the audience. Rs.12,000/- worth electrical goods were presented to the Home run by the Little Sisters of the Poor.


Health Check-up

The Apollo Shine Foundation organised a one day health check-up for all the staff and students on 17.03.2017 with the help of the doctors and nurses of Apollo Hospital, Chennai. On the same day about 30 student-teachers of ours willingly took part in the blood donation camp organised by Adayar Cancer Institute and donated blood. They were given certificates.


Interaction with International Advocacy Officer, Rome

Ms. Amaya, International AdvocacyOfficer, Jesuit Refugee Service, JRS, Rome accompanied by Fr.StanFernandes, SJ, Director, JRS-AFG addressed the students on the current scenario of refugees around the world on 16th March.


Annual Sports Meet

The 10th Annual Sports Meet was organised on 10th March 2017 with pomp. Padmashri Shiny Wilson was the chief guest and declared the 10th Annual Sports Meet open. Rev.Dr. Arockiasamy Xavier, SJ presided over the function and felicitated the gathering. The Chief Guest in her address to the students emphasised the need for determination, dedication and discipline to achieve success in life. She gave away the medals and certificates to the winners of the various sports and games events conducted. A group of student-teachers put up a spectacular display of yogasanas trained by Mr.James Arul Martin, Physical Director of LCE. LCE owes much to Mr.Vijaya Kumar and Mr.Dinesh, the Physical Directors of LCAS and LICET for their kind services in conducting the meet successfully.


Campus Placement

LCE organised a two day Campus Placement in which 20 schools participated. About 82 students (54%) of the total strength of the II year B.Ed. students (152) have been placed in various schools. Congratulations to them on their placement.


Practical Examinations

The II year B.Ed. students had their practical examinations on 22nd& 23rd February. The external examiners were thrilled by the performance of the students during demo class and by the teaching learning materials prepared by the students.


NAAC Peer Team Visit

NAAC Peer Team Visit(II cycle) took place on 30th& 31st January. Dr.RameshchandraG.Kothari, Chairperson from Vadodara, Dr.K.B.Budhori, Member Coordinator from Uttarakhand and Dr.Jaswinder S Dhillon, Member from Amritsar came for the assessment and accreditation of the college. They were impressed by the great strides taken by the College to the formation of the prospective teachers and by the Cultural programmes by the student-teachers.


Educational Tour to Mumbai & Goa

Educational Tour to Mumbai and Goa was organised for the second year B.Ed.student-teachers from 15th to 22ndJanurary. 16 staff members accompanied the 120 student-teachers. Everything was meticulously planned regarding visit to the important places in Mumbai and Goa. Student-teachers enjoyed their week-long tour immensely.


FIESTA - A Cultural Extravagnaza

FIESTA – an annual cultural extravaganza was celebrated on 11th and 12th January. Thiru.Jayabaskaran, Kavinger and Makkal TV Adviser inaugurated the cultural festival and encouraged the students to make use these opportunities to bring out their innate talents in dance, music, singing, drawing, etc. Fr. Jebamalairaja , SJ Mission Superior presided over the inaugural function and felicitated the gathering. Student-teachers’ participation in all the competitions revealed their zeal and zest to make the event ever memorable. Fr.M.A.Joe Antony, SJ presided over the valedictory function and gave away the prizes to the winners. In his valedictory address he drew the attention of the student-teachers to the pathetic conditions of the farmers whose existence is at stake. Congratulations to all the student-teachers’ council and staff on the wonderful organisation of FIESTA 2016.

Financial Education for Youth

Standard Chartered Bank, Chennai conducted an awareness programme on Financial Education for Youth on 25th Nov.2016 with an objective of providing guidelines on various aspects in managing their finance and enabling students to make financially responsible decisions. LCE greatly appreciates the efforts of Mr.DominicSavio, CFO, Chennai in organising this programme successfully.


NCTE Inspection

A two member NCTE Visiting Team headed by Dr. Mukhtar A.Makki made an inspection on our college 21.11.2016. This was done to obtain recognition for the two year B.Ed.programme


SPSS workshop

A two day workshop on SPSS was conducted on 18th& 19th Nov. For research scholars. About 21 research scholars took part in it and benefitted. Prof.Reuban& Team from Loyola College, Chennai were the resource persons. Fr. Christie, SJ inaugurated the workshop earlier and Fr.Ignacimuthu,SJ, Director, ERI gave the valedictory address and gave away the certificates to the participants.


Staff Orientation

A one day seminar was organised for the teaching and non-teaching staff on 15.11.2016 to prepare the staff members for NAAC Peer Team Visit that is scheduled on 14th& 15th December 2016. A three member team headed by Dr.D.Victor, Director of Academy for Quality and Excellence in Higher Education oriented the entire staff for the upcoming NAAC visit. All the staff members found it very timely and useful.


I Continuous Internal Assessment for I year B.Ed students


Colloquium with Head Teachers

LCE organised a colloquium of Head teachers of practice teaching schools on 11.11.2016 to strengthen the collaboration with them and to get their feedback. About 22 head teachers participated in this colloquium. Dr. Bernard D’samy presided over the colloquium and highlighted the importance of their contribution in the formation of prospective teachers. After the meeting a high tea was served to the guests





Alumni Day

Alumni Day will be celebrated on 14.10.2016 at 2.00pm at Arrupe Auditorium, Loyola College of Education, Chennai. The Alumni of LCE are kindly encouraged to take part in this great event. Please contact Prof. Caroline Maria for further details.


Alumni Day Celebrated Detail


Alumni Day was celebrated in the afternoon of 14th October 2016. Rev. Dr.Thomas, SJ, Director of Loyola Alumni Association presided over the function and addressed the gathering. He highlighted the significance of social networking among the alumni to stay connected with the institution as well as with one another. About 100 alumni with the parents participated in the programme. The programme was well planned and executed by Mrs.Caroline Maria and Dr. Beulah Jayarani

8th Graduation Day celebrated Details


The 8th Graduation Day was celebrated for the batch of 2014-15 on 14th October 2016. Dr. S.Thangasamy, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai presided over the graduation day and delivered the convocation address. In his address he stressed that the teachers are to be compassionate, committed, sensitive to the needs of their wards, and inculcate desirable values in the students. The he distributed the degree certificates to the students. Dr.L.Kulandai Theresal, Principal presented a brief report of the various academic activities and developments of the college to the august gathering. The staff and students played a very impressive role in making the graduation day memorable. Congrats to the students of 2014-15 batch!


Retreat for Staff and I year B.Ed. Students

The first year B.Ed.Student-teachers had their God experience guided by Rev.Sr. Christina,FSPM on 8th October and Rev.Dr. Emmanuel gave the staff both teaching and non-teaching an orientation towards God on the same day. Both staff and student-teachers were rejuvenated.


Rural Immersion Programme

The first year student-teachers had their a week long rural immersion programme from 25th - 30th September 2016 at three different places such as Vettavalam, Tindivanam and Kuppayanallur. LCE is very grateful to Frs. Rajarathinam, Kennedyand Masilamani and Schs. Manoj and Jerald for their meticulous planning and successful organisation of the camps. The rural immersion programme enabled the student-teachers to become deeply aware of the stark reality of the society. The staff of LCE accompanied them
